What We Do

The University of Houston/Coastal Plains Small Business Development Center (UH/CP SBDC) offers business consulting, software training, and live seminars to entrepreneurs seeking to start or expand their small businesses in Wharton and Matagorda counties.

One-on-One Business Consulting

Schedule a free, confidential, face-to-face meeting with a professional, experienced business consultant for assistance with: 

  1. Evaluating financing alternatives and completing loan packages
  2. Preparing, reviewing and/or updating business plans
  3. Considering and discussing new marketing strategies
  4. Questions and important decisions related to your business

Our consultant may also refer you to the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at the University of Houston SBDC Network Office for help evaluating opportunities to sell to federal, state and local governments, to the Network's international trade resources for selling to customers outside the United States, or to the Hurricane Business Recovery Center (HBRC) if your business was impacted by Hurricane Ike.

Get hands-on training in important business-related software such as Quickbooks, Excel and Photoshop in fully-furnished computer labs in both Bay City and El Campo.
